Located in Sandhurst, "a posh suburb of Johannesburg," this former private home has "the infrastructure and amenities of a much larger hotel." Perfect-scoring rooms are "anything but standard," with contemporary African art, brown-latticed shutters, and minibars stocked with local wines. "Gracious staff" serve European dishes at the eponymous restaurant. Try the signature spa treatment: sound therapy that uses gongs.
