Delaire Graff Lodges and Spa, Stellenbosch $$$$
From the editors of Condé Nast Traveler:With wraparound views of vineyards and mountain peaks, ten exquisitely appointed private lodges and a spa have opened at the Delaire Graff Estate, with its cutting-edge winery, tasting lounge, fine-dining restaurant, and boutique all within strolling distance. Architecturally, the hotel is a contemporary take on the local Cape Dutch vernacular, while the glamorous color-saturated interiors are by London-based David Collins. Essentially private villas, each of the lodges has a heated infinity pool, generous living spaces, a kitchen with private butler service, and a Jo Malone-stocked marble bathroom. South African master craftsmen were commissioned to pull together a detailed, layered style with a unique local provenance. Spilling out onto a shady terrace, Indochine restaurant serves light pan-Asian cuisine such as duck tikka masala or Thai chicken broth infused with lime, lemongrass, and ginger. Staff pay attention to the finest detail, but the guest experience is ultimately influenced by the skill and intuition of the butler appointed to your lodge. 2011 Hot List
