Don't limit your trip in South Africa to the Garden Route, Capetown, and Kruger Game Park. The country has amazing scenery and one place not to miss is the Drakensburg Mountains. Driving up into the mountains out of Durban was breathtaking. Lovely valleys and small towns to explore. Terrific hiking for the serious trekker or those who just want a nice nature walk. There are small game reserves here that you can explore with a certified guide, often on foot, which can be far more interesting than sitting on an open lorry being driven around a larger park. But best of all is the lovely people you will meet, in the tiny cafes, in the charming inns, and on the walks. Plan on at least 4 days in the Drakensburgs to do them justice. report a problem
