Aguas de Ibiza Spa and Resort, Santa Eulalia del Río, Ibiza $$$$
Concierge.com's insider take:
Recently taken over by the Hospes hotel chain, this 114-room resort oozes boutique chic, thanks to the vision of Barcelona-based design duo Kim Castells and Jordi Cuenca. Located northeast of Santa Eulalia del Río, it's a little difficult to find: As you leave town, follow the sign to Es Canar. The lobby's look—crushed-velvet sofas and glittering pewter-colored armchairs set against acres of glass and alabaster—extends throughout the rest of this designer pleasure palace. The same materials appear in the rooms, which are spacious and outfitted in cream tones, with huge windows, sundecks, and pretty, glittery mosaic bathrooms. The suite bathrooms have round tubs and are surrounded on all sides by floor-to-ceiling windows, giving wonderful sea views. Gourmet Ibicenco restaurant La Sal has Rococo-inspired tables and chairs, while in the Alabastro lounge, gray leather booths surround a retro circular bar. The relatively small garden terraces and half-moon pool are less exciting. The place to be is on the rooftop, cocktail in hand, enjoying the (child-free) plunge pool and spectacular views of Formentera.—Tara Stevens
From the editors of Condé Nast Traveler:There may be no better place to recover from Ibiza's excesses than this 114-room resort at the verdant far end of the town of Santa Eulalia. Gently textured walls and natural materials encourage relaxation, while sleek surfaces and contemporary art provide just the right amount of frisson. Rooms are large enough to keep you from bumping into anything in a nightlife-induced stupor, with plush beds and a sofa or two. Each comes with a balcony sizable enough for continuing the partya description that could also apply to the massive round bathtubs in some rooms. The on-site restaurant isn't up to the rest of the property's ambitions, but the sizzling rooftop and outdoor lounges certainly are.2009 Hot List
When to go: In early June and or in September, the crowds aren't quite as thick but there are still enough people for a party.
Which room to book: The Cloud Nine rooms are worth the extra cost for sitting areas larger than most living roomsand those fabulous round tubs.Subscribe now to Condé Nast Traveler for just $1 an issue! ›
