Stockholm shopping

No one comes to Stockholm to shop cheap; they come to shop cool. While bargains can be found (Sweden did, after all, give the world H&M and IKEA), you're more likely to bruise your credit card by splurging on fashion and design. NK, the Selfridges of Stockholm, is the best place to start a Scandinavian shopping spree. From there you can stroll to Efva Attling, the country's most stylish silversmith, and one of Stockholm's several Filippa K outposts is also nearby. Östermalm, the poshest area of Stockholm, is where you'll find the best design shopping—both contemporary and classic. Visitors from outside the European Union can reclaim the sales tax when they leave the country, which takes some of the sting out of the prices. Ask the store for a Global Refund form when you make a purchase over $25.
