St. Tropez nightlife
St. Tropez parties late, which is to say all night long. First come drinks after dinner, then everyone migrates to Les Caves du Roy to see who's around, and then maybe the slightly friskier Papagayo, where it's common to buy a $400 bottle of Champagne and spray it over the crowd. English is common, as the nighttime mix includes bankers from Milan, the odd Austrian prince, burned-out rock stars, American rappers, and nearly every beautiful young woman in France. The commonality? Money, beauty, or both. Given the right attitude, it's not actually hard to get into most clubs, but drinks are stunningly expensive—how about $30 for a beer?
