I stumbled upon this hidden area while traveling Europe on a Eurail Pass. The train goes through the mountains to a stop (Lugano, Switzerland), which is simply a small shack on the side of a mountain. You take a funicular down to the town and lake below. Lugano is very homey with markets in the street. Across the lake is the town of Campione de Italia, a resort town featuring a casino. You take a boat back and forth between the two. Although the two towns are in different countries, they are like a single town. report a problem
