If you're going to be traveling around Japan, make sure to get a rail pass. You just have to show your passport, and for a set price you can ride the bullet train to multiple desitnations for much cheaper than buying individual tickets to each place! report a problemPosted on: August 26, 2009 at 10:30AM
Your JR pass is good for trains, boats, ferries, trams, cable cars, even some subways and local trains. A FABULOUS bargain - BUT - you must purchase this BEFORE arriving in Japan. We logged thousands of miles on our JR passes on a recent (July 2009) trip through Japan from Tokyo to Hiroshima and along both coasts. You can use it to get reserved seats on the bullet trains (Shinkansen) - highly recommended.
