This midrise hotel on the upper edge of Queen's Park Savannah offers a prime location for Carnival goers, just steps from the festival grandstands where the judging takes place. The rest of the time it caters mostly to business travelers, so expect on-the-ball service. The 94 rooms come in a variety of categories, from standard to suites with balconies or kitchenettes. The decor could use a spruce-up: Bedspreads and drapes in carnival colors come across as either charmingly old-fashioned or slightly dated, depending on your taste. The public areas fare better in the style department: A bistro and bar spill onto a pleasant terrace, and the swimming pool deck is ringed by lush tropical foliage. The top-floor restaurant, Tiki Village, has a delightfully retro Polynesian theme, with dishes like South Sea curried shrimp—and panoramic views of the city.—Updated by Aaron Barker
