Concierge.com's insider take:
Tucked away from Port of Spain's busy main drag—but close enough to walk to Queen's Park Savannah—this boutique gem delivers the personality and charm that neighboring hotels sometimes lack. Each of the 16 rooms is decorated according to a theme and reflects the melting pot history of Trinidad; all come with kitchenettes, complimentary minibars, and DVD players. When available, book the Central Room, which pays homage to Trinidad's Indian community with vibrant red tapestries and Hindu imagery. Public areas are homey, with colorful antique furniture and a library stocked with Caribbean authors such as Trinidad-born V.S. Naipaul; there's also free Wi-Fi throughout. The inn's indoor-outdoor restaurant Battimamzelle has a solid rep for refined Caribbean cuisine.—Updated by Aaron Barker
