Concierge.com's insider take:
One of Tobago's most appealing boutique properties, this plantation-style resort occupies a rarefied perch above Bacolet Bay, a secluded, semiprivate beach stocked with umbrella-shaded loungers and well-staffed with drink attendants. The interiors, designed by owner and former fashion model Gloria Jones-Knapp, are a tasteful blend of traditional (wooden shutters, rattan chairs, four-poster canopy beds) and modern (white leather sofas, flat-screen TVs). The grounds feature an infinity pool surrounded by lush bouquets of bougainvillea. Opt for the Junior Penthouse when available—for a nominal fee above the standard room rate, it affords a much better view of the bay from its private veranda. Amenities include the use of the facilities at the nearby Bacolet Beach Club, with its colonial-themed restaurant and preponderance of British expats on holiday (think tea, toast, and tomatoes for brekkie).—Aaron Barker
