The character of Assisi is rich in a mystical spiritual aura and Italian cultural heritage. The spirit of Saint Francis and Clara, which exemplified simplicity and reverence for life and creation permeates. The Italian network of Catholic convents, offer a step above hostel approximte accomodations, with comparable rates. The offering is one of safe, clean surroundings and three sit-down meals a day, if you are able to partake. You need not be Catholic. While staying in such a convent, we met a sabaticaled Priest, who knew the hamlet intimately. He took us, and other travelers from Argentina and South Africa, on hikes through the narrow, picturesque, cobblestone streets. report a problem
