Formerly Lotus Asian Grill and Sushi Bar (and owned by the same team that operates Havana Blue at Frenchman's Reef), Coco Blue Restaurant retained the sushi menu of its predecessor and then upgraded the offerings with superb island-inspired fare, such as banana leaf–wrapped mahi mahi and pork ribs glazed with rich guava and fiery habañero peppers. Much of the seafood is off-the-boat fresh: You might even see a fisherman carrying a huge yellowfin tuna through the dining room. And the sides—risotto with bacon and roasted poblano peppers, mashed potatoes with Manchego cheese, spinach flash-seared with rum—are equally memorable. Daily happy hours present the ideal opportunity to sample a "guavito," a mojito enhanced with aromatic guava juice. The location—a small, nondescript strip mall adjacent to a marina—belies the lively vibe and up-to-the-minute decor (including ocean-themed wall graphics and plasma-screen displays of sea creatures).
