U.S. Virgin Islands shopping
Tchotchke outposts abound in the islands, but tucked among the T-shirts and shot glasses are some worthy jewelry stores and art galleries. Shops are usually clustered together in port areas, such as Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas, Christiansted in St. Croix, and Mongoose Junction in St. John. Many store owners in Charlotte Amalie close down on days where there are no ships in port, so be prepared to brave the crush of the cruise ship contingency. Searching for deals? Check ShopTalk online or visit one of their daily presentations at the Ritz Carlton—they'll even give you code words for freebies at island retailers like Yacht Haven Grande's W!kked.
