Yaletown's only hotel and the most design-centric place in Vancouver, Opus is once again one of our top choices, thanks to quick access to and from the airport via the Yaletown subway station next door. Opus's 96 immaculate rooms are painted in bright primary colors (lipstick red, sunflower yellow), furnished with modern pieces by designers (from Starck bar stools to Arne Jacobsen Egg chairs), and accessorized with cutting-edge touches (lots of chrome, sliding frosted-glass doors leading to starkly spacious bathrooms). Celebs like Lady Gaga and Bono have stayed here, but even everyday folks get VIP perks such as complimentary rides in the hotel's BMW 7 Series and automatic entry into the still-hip Opus Bar. The amenities, from the L'Occitane bath products to the free mountain bikes, are top-notch. What used to be the Elixir brasserie has become a pop-up restaurant that changes every 100 days.—Kasey Wilson
