Vancouver nightlife
Vancouver nightlife is covered well by the city's free weekly newspaper, The Georgia Straight. It's the best print source for up-to-date listings and is available on most street corners. There's an impressive amount of live music to be heard in Vancouver, and the historic Commodore Ballroom is the coolest place to catch headliners such as the Drive-By Truckers, the Ting Tings, or the Jayhawks. The well-heeled Hollywood North crowd hangs out at Yaletown hot spots like the Opus Bar at the Opus Hotel or at Sanfir on Granville Mall's Entertainment Row. Gay nightlife is focused around Davie Street; there's a perennially lively scene at Celebrities Night Club. Thursday night is the most popular night of the week to head to the clubs. The thirty- and fortysomething jet-setters flock to tasteful lounges, while those in their 20s cram into the dance clubs that make up the entertainment zone.
