We ate at the restaurant on Wolzelle and despite the touristy look of the place we had a fabulous meal. Service was brisk, but gracious, and we were able to linger at our table without concern. The waiter recommended a superb Gruner Vertliner (perhaps the best we had our entire stay) that complemented our meal well. The assorted appetizers were excellent, especially the goose liver (although it was served a bit cold). We had the tafelspitz and tongue and both were absolutely perfect. The usual descriptions do not do justice to Viennese cuisine. If you think of soup, boiled meat, vegetables, potatoes and applesauce with horseradish, you will not come close to conjuring up the delightful taste sensations awaiting you when you order tafelspitz at Plachutta.
