One of my favorite places to visit in Washington, DC is Hillwood. It is the former estate of Marjorie Merriweather Post and contains beautiful gardens and greenhouses as well as an art collection that includes Fabergé eggs, Russian porcelain, Russian Orthodox icons, Beauvais tapestries, and Sèvres porcelain. It is a welcome respite from the usual, very crowded attractions on the Mall. Reservations are required because parking is limited. The house is especially lovely during the holidays. report a problem
