There is so much to do in the DC area that it's difficult to choose an itinerary unless you plan ahead. For current events, see the Capitol, the Supreme Court or Congress. For art, the National Galleries are a must. For architecture, you're surrounded by lovely buildings. The most important tip I can give though regards the weather. Summers are hot and very humid, spring is lovely but crowded because of the cherry blossoms, winters are mild, and autumn is gorgeous. If you can choose, autumn is the time to visit. You'll have great weather, beautiful fall foliage, and far fewer crowds. But no matter what, you'll be exhausted at the end of the day from so much to do so be sure to choose a hotel with A Westin Heavenly Bed! report a problem
