For a quintessential Washington DC view, go up to the terrace floor of the Kennedy center. It's free and unlike the Washington monument, no reservations or waiting in line. Just go right up for the best view of the Potomac River. Sights to see include the famous Watergate building right next door, plus the whole panorama of DC. Walking around the Terrace, you will see the Capitol Dome, the National Cathedral, Georgetown University, the Arlington National Cemetary w/ the Lee house on the hill, the Pentagon, Reagan Natn. airport, the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, Washington Monument and the Old Post office building. Each day at 6pm, there are free performances, music, theatre, or maybe dance given downstairs at the Kennedy Center, lasting less than an hour. Afterwards, you can walk along the waterfront into Georgetown, where the dining and entainment options are plentiful. report a problem
