While every tourist knows that a visit to DC is not complete without a glimpse of the Lincoln Memorial, the National Monument, and The National Mall, few visitors consider stopping by these landmarks after dark. Especially on a clear night, the view from the Lincoln Memorial to the illuminated National Monument is breathtaking, and the reflection makes for absolutely amazing pictures. The FDR memorial should not be skipped over, as there's something moving and tranquil about following his timeline, listening to the waterfalls, and sitting by the water in the dark. Another plus? The crowds are significantly smaller and there is a reprieve from the heat and humidity, which can be brutal during the summer days. report a problem
