Concierge.com's insider take:
Not everybody comes to Whistler simply for the skiing: If you're a fashion-forward type from Vancouver or elsewhere looking for a weekend away, you might find yourself at this 41-room boutique hotel. Opened in 2006, the Adara injected some needed style and funk into the Whistler hotel scene: Note the vinyl headboards and the Jetsons-esque plastic chairs topped with faux sheepskin throws. There are also such niceties as a Bodum French press coffeemaker, a docking station for MP3 players (you can borrow a preprogrammed iPod or laptop), and a rain shower stocked with products from Fresh. Gas fireplaces are the one nod to traditional ski lodges (and, since it is in Whistler Village, it's still only five-minute walk from the mountains' gondolas).
