Concierge.com's insider take:
Although budget-friendly hotels aren't easy to come by in Whistler, a night at the Horstman House can cost you as little as $180 in high season—a fraction of what the higher-end places will run. The standard-issue mountain rental decor isn't going to win any awards, but at 700 to 1,000 square feet, the lodge's 51 one- and two-bedroom suites are massive by Whistler standards and include full kitchens, private balconies, gas fireplaces, living and dining rooms, and laundry facilities. What's the catch? It's a 10-minute walk from the hotel to the Blackcomb Mountain base, and 15 to 20 minutes to the center of Whistler Village. The free Whistler shuttle does stop here roughly every 15 minutes between 5:30 am and 3 am, and there are plenty of distractions on-property, including a mountain-view pool, hot tub, fitness center, and a kid-friendly lobby with foosball and pool tables.
