Concierge.com's insider take:
A barefoot resort if ever there was one, this little complex on a spectacular beach south of Tulum's ruins combines creature comforts—a small freshwater pool, a beachfront spa—with rustic charm. Over the past two decades Ana and José Soto have gradually spiffed up the 22 simple suites, and now they have a simple elegance: plush white mattresses atop platform beds, sofas scattered with colorful cushions, rough-hewn bedside tables, conch shells covering the showerheads (only some units have AC). Guests dressed for comfort wander into the two-story palapa restaurant for bountiful breakfasts and simple seafood dinners, wiggling their toes in the sand beneath the wooden tables. Trendier yoga retreats and Euro-chic bungalows have arisen all around this longtime treasure, but none are as practiced in providing all the right elements for a simple escape.
